Design Intension was started in late 2007 by Robert Matteson. We provide an alternative to existing web design options - one that doesn't use premade templates or formulas. We approach each design with the care and attention it deserves - always asking the questions: How can we tell your story? How can we make you stand out?

 

About the name - We design with intent. Nothing is added without a reason, creating clean, functional web sites. The play on words comes from the concept of visual tension. We create sites that are visually balanced, but still interesting.

 

 

Robert Matteson

Robert's a tar heel born and bred (UNC class of '07). Hailing from Durham, he grew up wanting to be an architect - and when he realized how much math that was going to involve (and how few Legos), switched to graphic design.

 

 

Stefan Nikolic

Lead Coder

 

Stefan is the company geek. He graduated from Brandeis University in 2009 with a degree in Computer Science and Philosophy, and ran off to travel around the world before joining Robert in business. If he's not driving a car to Mongolia or reading Aristotle, he's probably in front of his computer.
